Young Disciples of Mary
“We bring Christ to the youth and the youth to Christ through Mary.”
— Alagad ni Maria Constitution
Who we are
Faith, fellowship, leadership and mission
The Young Disciples of Mary (YDM) is a youth and young adult ministry movement affiliated with Alagad ni Maria in close collaboration with F.A.M.I.L.Y. (Friends of Alagad ni Maria Involved in Leading the Youth) in the Diocese of Orange, California.
YDM gathers high school, college and young adults who are committed to enriching the Catholic faith among themselves and their fellow Catholic youth through programs that foster Christian Leadership, Fellowship and Mission. Members are formed to become productive and effective ministers for the parish and the local Church.
Our formation
Belong · Build · Send
Belong
Invite and engage youth and young adults to discover the value, challenges and joy of belonging to a Catholic youth community.
Build
Form members in Christian values, spirituality and leadership, empowering them to participate actively in the ministries of YDM and the Church.
Send
Commission members to witness to Christ through active participation, service and leadership among other young people and young adults.
Spirituality
Following Christ through Mary
YDM imitates the discipleship of the Blessed Mother, who showed obedience to God and docility to the Holy Spirit. The group reflects on Mary’s openness to cooperate in God’s work of salvation, from the Annunciation (Luke 1:26–38), through the Lord’s passion, death and resurrection, and to Pentecost.
YDM desires to follow Mary’s example by serving the Church in the present time.
